Personal History		Born on Arken II in 2310, Tihduk Verquh was a member of the atypical Verquh Sia Lenthar, the fundamental social unit of Arkenite culture. While there is no rivalry between the Sia Lenthar groups, as this would diminish the importance of being a part of the common Arkenite race, the Verquh were known to be less cohesive than other groups. This is best evidenced by Tihduk Verquh having been was raised by his father, his mother having left when he was young and remarried. Due to his atypical upbringing, Tihduk did not have the traditional childhood and early adolescence of his peers. While most Arkenites maintain strong relationships with their Sia Lenthar, Tihduk was never close to his tribe and this was compounded by his negative relationship with his mother and her new family. This left Tihduk directionless for much of his young adulthood, leading him to remain more bound to Arken II than the more common dream of his peers to explore. He sought employment and worked as a receptionist in a Science Lab, where he was taken under the wing of Mysthiq Birziff, a former Starfleet Captain who had commanded the Science Vessel Hawking. Intrigued by the stories shared, Tihduk applied for and joined Starfleet Academy's Arken II Annex at age 21. This also led to the ending of his relationship with Tsun Prim, who did not want him to join Starfleet. While at Starfleet Academy, Tihduk made fast friends with several different people despite being older than most new cadets within the system. Based upon his species natural affinities for sciences, Tihduk chose to study to become an astronomer. A challenge for him was that his sister, Lieutenant Tsuaggrin Sllinro, was one of the instructors at the Annex and their challenged relationship significantly impacted his studies. Tihduk's education was also impacted when his close friend, Bajoran Cadet Cazo Allo, contracted an infection while on an a field assignment and passed away. Tihduk was deeply affected by the loss of his friend and challenges with his sister, almost flunking out of the Academy. It was around this time that he met Shyrl Eerjun, with whom he immediately struck up a friendship that helped him to overcome the loss of his friend and stabilize his studies. In time their relationship blossomed into more and, by the conclusion of his Academy training, he proposed marriage and she accepted. Shortly after graduation they eloped prior to being assigned to their first postings. The newlywed couple struggled with their assignments as their career paths led them to different postings within the fleet. Shyrl, a Starfleet Communications Specialist, was assigned to Comm Station Epsilon II near the Klingon Border while Tihduk was stationed aboard the USS Reliant. During his time on the Reliant, Tihduk served in the Stellar Cartography Laboratory primarily, cataloging gaseous anomalies as the vessel patrolled the Beta Quadrant. In time, Tihduk was identified for his abilities and was selected for training to serve as the Night Watch Science Specialist on the Bridge. This sometimes led to conflict with the Night Watch Duty Officer, Lieutenant Mamoru Nakamura, who was a friend of his sister. This conflict led to his transfer to the USS Roosevelt. The transfer to the Roosevelt was, however, a key moment in Tihduk's life as he was quickly promoted to Assistant Chief Science Officer. During his assignment to the Roosevelt, Tihduk was quickly noticed for his abilities and impressed the vessel's Captain, Jaartak Nensh. Tihduk would be considered for Chief Navigation Officer by Captain Nensh, but was promoted instead to Chief Science Officer. Nonetheless, Tihduk's relationship with his wife Shyrl became strained during this assignment, despite the birth of their first child Corthe, and he had a brief relationship with Zooshno Rhenorr, a fellow Arkenite serving aboard the Roosevelt. Deeply ashamed, Tihduk chose to transfer off of the Roosevelt and took the Assistant Chief's posting on the Victory in response. Adding to his personal shame his second child, Tsalwenn, was born at roughly the same time. Recently, though his old friend and mentor Mysthiq Birziff, Tihduk learned of the USS Columbia and that their Science Officer posting may have been opening. He quickly applied for the role and was assigned to the vessel.
